Classroom Rules
1. Class will begin promptly at the scheduled time. “Dead Time” occurs during the first and last 10 minutes of class.
2. Please remain seated and quiet while someone is speaking in class.
3. Students should begin working on the daily warm-up as soon as they enter class. These will be checked periodically for a daily grade and included in test materials.
4. Students will turn in all work to the designated tray when it is due. Late work will be accepted, for HALF credit, on daily assignments only. All major essays and projects will not be accepted late.
5. Students who are absent are expected to see Mrs. Purvis about make-up work and its due date. Please do not think that just because you are absent you are excused from that day’s assignments!
6. I will take your cell phone up if I see it.
7. Ipod/music/video devices of any kind are not allowed in the classroom. I will take up your Ipod/music/video device if I see it.
8. Students are expected to be awake, cooperative, and participating in all class discussions during the class period.
* Persistent violations of class procedures/conduct will result in parent contact and/or an office referral.
Syllabus
Mission Statement:
My mission is to expand the knowledge, broaden the understanding, and build the confidence to the highest level possible to create a successful, well-balanced individual.

Notebook: An English notebook will be kept with the following sections: warm-ups, notes, vocabulary, and graded work. This notebook will be graded, at random, throughout the six weeks; therefore, it is necessary to bring this notebook to class everyday. Students will also need lined notebook paper everyday for class.
Homework: Homework will be given, as it is very important for the reinforcement of the work that is done in class. Homework will be collected and graded to monitor student progress throughout the six weeks.
